Different facets of Blu Ray Disc

Blu ray Disc, which is also known as Blu ray or simply BD, happens to be an optical disc storage medium meant to surpass the typical DVD format. What is the use of it then? Well, its major applications are for the purpose of storing high-definition video, PlayStation 3 games, and other data, with up to 25 GB per single layered, and 50 GB per dual layered disc. It must be taken into consideration that the disc contains the equivalent physical dimensions like standard DVDs and CDs.
Blu ray Disc, by and large, was the handiwork of Blu ray Disc Association, a group reputed for representing makers of various segments including consumer electronics, computer hardware, and motion pictures. What is the status at the moment? As stated by a range of studies, up to June 2009, in excess of 1000 Blu-ray disc titles are available in various countries including Australia, 2500 in Japan, 1500 in the United Kingdom, and 2500 in the United States and Canada.  
If we go back to past records, it will be found that physical specifications of Blu ray Disc were completed in the year 2004 and in January 2005, TDK came out with the annunciation that they had developed a hard coating polymer for Blu ray Discs.
On the other hand the Blu Ray Disc -ROM specifications were settled in early 2006 and in this context, AACS LA, a consortium that had been founded in 2004 played a significant role in developing the DRM platform that could be used to distribute movies to consumers steadily.
